July 18th
 7-9pm
Púyalo-JAM with Púyaloahí
@ The Good Life Garden
Come meet the instruments of Colombian folk cumbia with the friendliest band in town. They will play, and teach, and play and teach, and you will leave with the same sense of joy and community they bring to their music! Drinks and snacks will be served! Free, first come first serve.
The Brooklyn Cumbia Festival celebrates Cumbia music from its Afro-Indigenous origins in Colombia to its modern forms across Latin America, the U.S. and beyond. The festival takes place in community gardens, public parks, and iconic NYC venues with live bands, DJs, music workshops, dancing, food, drinks, and artisanal crafts.
Produced and founded in 2023 by One Whale’s Tale, a creative arts company led by Camilo Quiroz-Vázquez + Ellpetha Tsivicos.
The 2024 Brooklyn Cumbia Festival was made possible with the support of City Parks Foundation and Partnerships for Parks through the NYC Green Fund, funds from the Howard Gilman Foundation, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council, and is sponsored, in part, by the Greater New York Arts Development Fund of the New York City Department of Cultural Affairs, administered by Brooklyn Arts Council.
